Barack Obama makes a Spotify playlist, includes 3 Kanye West songs

We all know Barack Obama loves music. In a recent playlist his foundation created on Spotify, three Kanye West songs were included.

When Barack Obama was President of the United States, he was known for sharing his playlists on Spotify for the world to enjoy. From workout playlists to seasonal ones, Obama let his love for music be known.

Now away from the White House, Obama continues to live up to his name with the Spotify playlists. His non-profit organization, the Obama Foundation, recently released one of these playlists for the city of Chicago.

The playlist offers a wide range of tunes, from Frank Sinatra to Jennifer Hudson to Chance the Rapper. The artist that was seen the most has been one of the biggest advocates for Chicago over the years — Kanye West.

Kanye was featured three times in Obama’s playlist: Homecoming, They Say (feat. Common, John Legend) and Family Business — the edited version.

Of course, Barack Obama was a senator for Illinois from 2005-2008, but his Chicago roots date back all the way to the early 1980’s when he worked as a community organizer. He held several positions in the city and has been a fan of Chicago sports for a long time.

While in office, Obama had the 1985 Chicago Bears’ Super Bowl team at the White House and even threw the first pitch at the 2005 ALCS for the Chicago White Sox.

In addition to all of that,  Obama will have his presidential library build in Chicago — which was probably a big reason for the Spotify playlist.

It was no surprise that Kanye West was included, either. Although he was born in Atlanta, Kanye was raised in Chicago and has shown the city love ever since.

‘Homecoming’ by Kanye West was written as a tribute to Chicago, Illinois. Barack Obama couldn’t have found a better song to end the Spotify playlist with.

West has had his run-ins with George Bush, been recognized by Barack Obama and meetings with Donald Trump. Who knows, maybe he’ll be President in 2020 and be pumping out his own presidential playlists.

For now, we’ll leave that job to Obama, who even received an offer from Spotify to be the president of playlists, but turned that offer down.

Other cool news is Obama’s presidential library, which has been rumored to be including a recording studio. Can you imagine if Kanye West recorded a track inside Obama’s presidential library?
