Pink defends slut shaming Kim Kardashian, says she was defending Bette Midler
Pink is not sorry for slut-shaming Kim Kardashian back when that nude bathroom selfie went viral.
Remember that amazing Kim Kardashian nude bathroom selfie that went viral and had a lot of women mad? Well, Pink was one of them and Andy Cohen must not have forgotten about that.
When Pink went on Watch What Happens Live to promote her new album, Beautiful Trauma, a “random caller” asked her about Kim Kardashian. Well, we already know those questions are pre-planned so we’ll just assume that Andy wanted an update on how Pink really felt.
The caller asked Pink if she had meant to insult Kim Kardashian after the KUWTk star posted a naked selfie. It turns out that she did, but not for the reasons that most though.
“Shout out to all of the women, across the world, using their brains, their strength, their work ethic, their talent, their ‘magic’ that they were born with, that only they possess,” Pink wrote soon after Kim’s photo went viral. “It may not ever bring you as much ‘attention’ or bank notes as using your body, your sex, your tits and asses, but women like you don’t need that kind of ‘attention.’”
There was plenty of Kim Kardashian hate after she posted the picture but Pink’s message among a few others, stood out.

“Honestly, she went in on Bette Midler,” Pink explained for her shot at Kim. “If you go in on Bette Midler, you’re probably gonna hear from me. You just don’t talk to Bette Midler… about anything.”

That sounds like a weak excuse to be petty. Not to mention that she never brought that up before. It seems like the female empowerment icon is making excuses for taking an easy, cheap shot at another celebrity’s success but who knows.
As far as how Bette Midler fits into all this… well, she took shots at Kim Kardashian too. In fact, she did it first.
After Kim posted her photo, Bette tweeted, “Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we’ve never seen, she’s gonna have to swallow the camera.”
It’s true, we have seen quite a bit of Kim Kardashian’s body. She’s made a living from it. Kim was obviously also bothered by Bette Midler’s tweet and decided to respond to it.
“hey @BetteMidler I know it’s past your bedtime but if you’re still up and reading this send nudes #justkidding,” Kim wrote in her first tweet before adding, “hey @BetteMidler I really didn’t want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu.”
That’s when Bette Midler, who can clearly stick up for herself, tweeted back, “.@KimKardashian: I never tried to fake friend you. Looks like anyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke…”
Kim Kardashian can take a joke. She’s actually got a pretty good sense of humor. Apparently, she didn’t find humor in Bette Midler attempting to slut shame her. Can you really blame her?
And as far as Midler responding again to say she can’t take a joke? Well, she probably didn’t think Kim would even bother to respond. Oops!

Now as far as Pink posting what she did in defense of Bette Midler? I’m not buying that at all. It does sound a lot better than just owning up to preaching one thing about loving yourself and then practicing another by trying to dull another woman’s shine.
