Kardashians vs Jenners: Who wins in a popularity contest?

During the first decade of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, it was clear that the Kardashian sisters were the most popular but as everyone has gotten older, the scales are swinging in the Jenner’s favor. 

Lately, it’s been pretty clear that Kylie Jenner’s star is rising. While Kim Kardashian has long been the most famous of the Kardashian-Jenner family, her crown is at risk and Kylie is right there, ready to take it.

With those two KUWTK clearly at the top of the popularity food chain, fans have been wondering if that means that the Kardashians are at risk of being overtaken (popularity-wise) by the Jenners too. Curiosity about the popularity balance between the Kardashians and Jenners has raised so much interest that the Washington Post even looked into it.

He split the KUWTK family into two teams comprised of the Kardashians and the Jenners. Naturally, Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe comprise the primary Kardashians for their team. Rob Kardashian was listed as secondary.

The Jenner team was made up of Kendall, Kylie, and Caitlyn. Caitlyn’s sons Brandon and Brody were listed as the secondary Jenners since they appeared on KUWTK a few times but were never a regular part of the show.

As for Kris Jenner, there was a bit of confusion. She’s the matriarch of the Kardashian family and the driving force behind Keeping Up With The Kardashians. She’s also legally a Jenner. The writer of the WP article decided to let fans vote on which side they felt Kris belonged to most. It was shocking to see that, as far as his Twitter poll went, 75 percent of respondents voted that she was truly a Kardashian. I guess that’s not too far off since she was clearly a Kardashian first.

What the project discovered, or rather confirmed, is that the Kardashians have been searched heavily since the debut of Keeping Up With The KKardashiansin 2007. It wasn’t until 2015 that the Jenners saw a surge in popularity. It was reportedly partly due to Caitlyn Jenner’s transition as well as Kylie Jenner turning 18 and starting to step out into the spotlight that helped the Jenners eek out a win that year.

The Kardashians slid back into their spot as the most popular again for a short time after that but now it looks like the Jenners are back to making some pretty huge headlines. Kylie Jenner’s pregnancy rumors played a huge part of that. It looks like Khloe’s pregnancy rumors and Kim Kardashian’s confirmed pregnant surrogate can’t even compete.
