Kim Kardashian opens up about choosing a girl and how many kids is her max

It turns out that Kim Kardashian’s choice to have another baby girl had to do with a lot more than just making big sister North happy!

There’s a lot of controversy surrounding gender selection during IVF procedures. Kim Kardashian is no stranger to controversy, though. The KUWTK star has been very open about her surrogacy journey in order to have baby number three. Now she’s sharing even more about the decision to have more kids and she may not be done yet.

Kim was recently on the cover of Elle, which means she did a cover story and it’s a very interesting read. In it, Kim talks about the latest addition to her family. Chicago West was born on January 15, making Kim and Kanye the parents to three healthy children.

When it was initially reported that Kim’s surrogate was having a girl, there was a lot of speculation about whether or not Kim and Kanye opted to have another girl on purpose. There were even reports that they chose to have another daughter in an effort to make North happy. North was having trouble adjusting to Saint being around and so it was said that Kim and Kanye decided to give North a sister, rather than a brother, in an effort to make the 4-year old happy.

There was much more to it than that. According to Kim, she and Kanye weren’t dead set on the gender of their third child. Instead, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star explained that what they really wanted was a healthy baby. So rather than choose their embryo based on whether it was a girl or boy, Kim said that they chose the healthiest one. That healthiest embryo just happened to be a girl and we all got to meet baby Chicago.

“It’s a really tricky thing,” Kim explained. “What sex do you put in? I just said, ‘Which one is the healthiest? Pick the healthiest one,’ and that was a girl.”

Kim wasn’t too hard on her surrogate even though many thought she would be. She even admitted that, while the surrogate ate an organic diet, Kim didn’t restrict junk food and even encouraged her to indulge cravings. Some things Kim was adamant about was that her baby be born in Los Angeles like the others. That wish was granted and baby Chicago was born at Cedars Sinai and was delivered by Kim’s doctor.

As for whether Kim and Kanye are done having kids, that’s still undecided. Kim Kardashian explained that right now, she is not in a hurry to have baby number four like many reports claimed.

"“My home and my heart feel really full right now, in the best way,” Kim said."

As far as having more kids, despite Kris Jenner having six kids and large families being the norm in the KarJenner world, Kim and Kanye are capping their family at four children. Or at least that’s what Kim is saying now.

“I don’t think I could handle more [kids] than that,” Kim said. “My time is spread really thin. And I think it’s important that in all couples, the mom gives the husband as much attention as the kids.”

Kim Kardashian’s family life is sounding pretty balanced these days. As far as balancing time between the kids and her husband, Kim is spot on and her relationship with Kanye West seems to really be in a good place.
