Oh Kanye! Why did you have to go and do that?

Fans have been mostly happy to have Kanye West back on Twitter until he stuck his foot in his mouth with this shocking tweet.

Who else thought Kanye West learned his lesson about engaging in conservative politics after meeting with Donald Trump? Obviously, he didn’t and now, Twitter is on fire after Kanye sided with a Black Lives Matter critic Candace Owens.

Owens is the creator of the Red Pill Black YouTube channel. She is also cited as a frequent guest on Fox News and Alex Jones’ highly controversial InfoWars. Literally, everything she stands for seems to be the opposite of what Kim Kardashian and the rest of the KarJenner family support. So what was Kanye thinking?

The shocking Twitter controversy came about after Kanye West tweeted, “I love the way Candace Owens thinks.”

He didn’t elaborate and just left those six words hanging. Soon after, fans and critics alike began trying to figure out what it is about Owens’ message or the way that she thinks that Kanye might like.

Considering how close Kanye West is to making his musical comeback, it seems like really bad timing to start supporting anyone in media as controversial as Owens. Even Toure asked, “How many times can Kanye signal his affinity for people with anti-Black policies and positions before it takes a toll on how Black fans feel about him?”

That is a very valid question! I’d like to say that this behavior isn’t typical for Kanye West but again, we can’t forget that meeting he took with Donald Trump last year. Most thought he had reconsidered after deleting all of his tweets in support of the current POTUS just a couple of months later. Now, it’s starting to look that may have simply been damage control and not a change in his mindset.

In the wake of the latest Kanye West Twitter controversy, Candace Owens has spoken out. She rebuked the idea that she is far-right in her political stance despite those who vehemently support her being typically far-right. She also thanked Kanye for the support and gushed about how she’s been a fan for quite some time. She even gushed about how Kanye’s lyrics helped her to get where she is today.

“I’m freaking out. @kanyewest ….please take a meeting with me,” Candace tweeted. “I tell every single person that everything that I have been inspired to do, was written in your music. I am my own biggest fan, because you made it okay. I need you to help wake up the black community.”

If Kanye West does end up taking a meeting with Candace, maybe then we can understand more about his support of the polarizing YouTube personality. This really seems like a much different Kanye than the one who shamed George W. Bush on live TV over his failure to act fast enough after Hurricane Katrina. What happened to that version of Kanye?
