Kourtney Kardashian is taking her love of all things healthy to Congress as she lobbies for cosmetics regulation.
Keeping Up With The Kardashians cameras were rolling when Kourtney Kardashian took Congress but no, she’s not filming for a new spinoff show. Instead, Kourtney headed for Washington D.C. on Tuesday with one purpose in mind — better regulation of the cosmetics industry.
Kourtney’s latest move is not surprising to KUWTK fans, who have watched the oldest Kardashian sister advocate for a healthy lifestyle since the show began. She often touts a healthy diet and active lifestyle as her means to staying in shape and looking great. Now it seems that Kourtney has taken an interest in how cosmetics companies can continue to be healthy while still making people look amazing.

It’s probably not a coincidence that Kourtney Kardashian headed to DC on the same day that her collaboration with Kylie Jenner is released by Kylie Cosmetics. Kourtney is the third sister to do a collab with Kylie, proving that the KUWTK sisters always have each others’ backs in their business ventures.

It’s not clear yet if Kourtney has plans to enter the cosmetics business or if she just has an interest in what goes into the products that she puts on her body. With each of the Kardashian and Jenner sisters opening up multiple income streams via fashion, beauty, and even accessories websites, it wouldn’t be surprising if Kourtney did launch an all-natural line or something of that nature.
According to PEOPLE, Kourtney’s Congressional appearance was stylish and ready for business in a black suit and blazer with a white crop top. When she addressed the room, Kourtney explained that it was motherhood that prompted her to learn about what really goes into beauty products and foods.
“When I had my first son, I started really learning so much about the foods that I was feeding him and it just kind of all snowballed. As a mom, you really take so much interest in the product and it’s so crazy,” Kourtney said. “I was thinking about it this morning. I would get so many baby gifts and a lot of it were products, skincare products for my kids.”
“And I would use the things that people sent me just assuming these are baby products and that they should be safe. I remember learning from my mom friends that these were not healthy at all, Kourtney continued. “Even going into a store to buy just about anything … you shouldn’t have to walk around aimlessly asking ‘Is this okay?’ ‘Is this not okay?’ Everybody should have the right to healthy products. I do feel like it’s time for Congress to do its job.”

Essentially, Kourtney is urging Congress to crack down on what ingredients can be used in beauty products and is also asking for regulation on labeling so that controversial ingredients so that consumers can easily identify which products contain them.
While some Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans may be wondering whether or not her sisters who are in the beauty business would feel about Kourtney asking for stricter standards, they’d probably support the idea. After all, Kourtney used KKW Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics as examples during her speech. She told Congress that Kylie Cosmetics’ products scored well with the Environmental Working Group as far as ingredients. It’s worth noting that it was the EWG who sponsored Kourtney’s trip to Washington D.C. to speak in front of Congress.
