Kim Kardashian headed to Washington DC for a meeting with Donald Trump
Kim Kardashian hasn’t given up on getting a pardon for Alice Johnson and she’s going to ask Donald Trump to his face.
Today is the day Kim Kardashian is set to meet with Donald Trump and Jared Kushner as she continues her work to have Alice Johnson pardoned. To prove just how serious she is about her political work, Kim is doing this sans Keeping Up With The Kardashian cameras, her sisters, her publicist and even her husband, Kanye West.
What makes this day even sweeter is that today is Alice Johnson’s birthday. Kim sent a message to Johnson via Twitter, wishing her a happy birthday and letting her know that what Kim is doing right now, is all for her. This isn’t a publicity stunt. It’s just Kim doing what she feels is the right thing to do.

Johnson has been in prison for 21 years now for her part in a drug trafficking ring. In 1987, she was found guilty of drug conspiracy and money laundering according to a report by Mic. While it’s true that Johnson really did work for a drug trafficking ring, the backstory to why and what happened has everything to do with why people like Kim Kardashian would like to see her freed.
Alice Johnson was a single mother from Olive Branch, Mississippi prior to her arrest. She had five children and was struggling to find the resources to feed and house everyone. After divorcing her husband of 10 years, Johnson ended up losing her job at FedEx and really struggling. It wasn’t until after her youngest son Cory died in a scooter accident that she got so desperate that she broke the law and started helping to transport drugs.
After 10 others testified against her, Alice Johnson was sentenced to life in prison despite only ever admitting to a very small role in the group’s activities. Johnson has said all she did was aid in the communication and relay messages between members. She never sold drugs.
