Kendall Jenner bashed for cultural appropriation
By Haley Cook
Kendall Jenner has recently been bashed for cultural appropriation because of a Vogue image that was taken where the model sported teased hair. This isn’t the first time Kendall has faced similar ridicule. Her sister Kim Kardashian has also faced it.
Vogue posted a photo of model Kendall Jenner with teased hair, and people are not happy about the cultural appropriation. The look was meant to be Edwardian styled and 60s/70s style, but Vogue apologized to everyone regardless.
Kendall posted the photo on her own Instagram account and got a variety of different comments that both support and ridicule her. Some believe she is trying to look African American, some say she isn’t and some say who cares either way, if that’s how she wants to wear her hair then let her.
While Vogue has apologized, Kendall hasn’t spoken out on the matter. This is a little understandable as she may not know what to say about the matter, she may be confused or her anxiety may just be getting the best of her.

Kendall Jenner faced a similar amount of ridicule when she caused outrage for her Pepsi ad a while back. That one really upset her and we saw her cry about it on an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians. It’s got to be hard to know what you should and shouldn’t do when you have magazines and brands telling you what to do. You never know how people on social media will interoperate things. Sister, Kim Kardashian, has faced cultural appropriation ridicule when she wore cornrows.
Do you think Kendall and Vogue crossed a line, or did social media just misunderstand them and take it too far? Let us know what you think in the comments and watch new episodes of Keeping up with the Kardashians Sunday nights on E!.
