Why Pippa Middleton apparently almost didn’t invite Meghan Markle to her wedding

The newly-published book Finding Freedom is somehow even more jam-packed with Royal Family drama than anyone could’ve anticipated. As it turns out, according to the tell-all, Pippa Middleton almost left one very notable name off of her wedding guest list, and it wasn’t because the fancy venue lacked the space, reports Us Weekly.
The book written by Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie says that initially, the bride-to-be wasn’t sure if inviting Meghan Markle was worth the risk, which sounds pretty harsh. But apparently, Pippa Middleton had her reasons at the time.
Finding Freedom reveals, “The media frenzy that followed their every move made them somewhat of a reluctant addition to the guest list for Pippa Middleton’s vows on May 20, 2017,” referring to the media craze over Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry.
And of course, the bride’s big day was meant to have all eyes on her, both public and private. In Finding Freedom, Scobie and Durand explain, “Both the bride and her mom, Carole, privately harbored concerns that the American actress’s presence alongside Prince Harry might overshadow the main event.”
The concern wasn’t totally misguided, even if it’s not Meghan’s fault. As Us Weekly notes, it wasn’t the first (or last) time that the Duchess of Sussex stole the show at a family affair.
On top of constant, unavoidable, and growing public interest in the star’s relationship with Prince Harry, some members of the Royal Family seemed to believe that Markle brought too much media focus on herself, in the wrong way.
In 2018, Meghan and Prince Harry told the world they were pregnant. That same year, they attended Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October, and according to the highly anticipated tell-all book, “It didn’t go down particularly well with Eugenie, who a source said told friends she felt the couple should have waited to share the news.”
Since Meghan did inevitably get that royal invite to Pippa’s wedding, maybe there are no hard feelings today. But there’s always another tell-all book tomorrow!
