Miley Cyrus is taking us back to 2013! Smilers everywhere will never forget Cyrus’ iconic MTV VMAs performance where she twerked on stage to her smash hit “We Can’t Stop,” and at the 2020 awards show last night, she drew inspiration from her past.

As she hit the stage to perform her newest hit, “Midnight Sky,” Miley surprised fans by also channeling one of her most memorable music videos for her 2013 hit “Wrecking Ball.” The singer jumped onto a swinging disco ball, bringing all the throwback feels to the VMAs stage.

The VMAs took place on August 30 on MTV, and if you missed Miley Cyrus’ performance, it’s a must-see. You can catch it in full below!

Before the show, Cyrus revealed how excited she was to be returning to the VMAs stage.

“S**t’s about to get freaky I can feel it,” the singer wrote on Instagram on August 17. “I hope you’re ready…. I’m performing at the 2020 #VMAs! Tune in August 30 at 8p on @MTV!  @vmas.”

Miley Cyrus was hardly the only superstar to command this VMAs stage this year. There were so many epic performers! Lady Gaga was one of this year’s performers, as was Ariana Grande, BTS, CNCO, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, J Balvin, Black Eyed Peas, and more. Casual, we know.

As for the coveted VMAs moon men, Miley Cyrus took home several. Her music video for “Mother’s Daughter” won for Best Art Direction and Best Editing, Deadline reports. After her big wins and her flawless performance, she certainly has a lot to celebrate!
