Fans react after Khloé Kardashian’s photos are used with announcement of proposed Instagram editing law
Instagram isn’t always the equivalent of reality. We live in a world of Photoshop, filters, body retouching and endless editing effects, which has made it hard to distinguish what’s real and what’s been digitally altered.
Now, that could all change. A new proposed law in the UK may make it a requirement to disclose when a photo posted by a public figure has been edited.
When one Twitter user, Mike Sington, spoke out about the potential new law, he used Khloé Kardashian’s photos as an example. “Proposed law in UK would make celebrities label as ‘edited’ photos posted to Instagram that are photoshopped,” he tweeted on August 29. “Member of Parliament: ‘Edited photos on Instagram are fueling a mental health crisis because they’re creating a warped sense of beauty.'”
The photos of Khloé he chose to include were the very photos that have driven fan speculation over whether or not she’s had plastic surgery. You can see the tweet and the coinciding pics below.
After seeing the tweet, some fans weren’t so happy about the use of Khloé’s photos, opting to defend her.
“I do hate that Khloé gets pretty singled out for the bad stuff they all do. Kylie and Kim are just as guilty but they’re not the face of photo editing!,” one fan lamented on Reddit.
“How sad that Khloé has to be the face of this movement,” another person wrote.
Some took a different tune on Reddit, claiming Khloé brought such comments upon herself. “I’m totally okay with her getting the most flack. Khloé is the biggest hypocrite of them, in my opinion, and deceives on a whole new level than Kim/Kylie,” the user said.
One thing’s for sure: If this social media law does go into affect, it will drastically change the way celebrities use Instagram!
