Keeping Up with the Kardashians will come to an end in 2021 and fans have some crazy theories as to why exactly KUWTK is ending.
After 14 years, Keeping Up with the Kardashians will come to an end sometime in early 2021.
News of the show’s cancellation shocked many fans and in the time that has followed the family’s announcement, the focus of the conversation has largely been on the reason behind the decision to bring the show to an end.
While we know when the show will end, the explanation as to why the show is ending remains a mystery which has led fans to speculate as to just what could be behind the show’s unexpected conclusion. Like with most Kardashian related topics, KUWTK fans have a number of theories why the show is planning on signing off the air in 2021 but these five fan theories just might take the cake!
Fan theories why Keeping Up with the Kardashians ending
1. Kim Kardashian wants to divorce Kanye, but avoid a TV scandal
One running fan theory is that Kim is interested in getting a divorce from husband Kanye West, but doesn’t the fallout of their struggling relationship to unfold on-air or be filmed. Considering the rough patch the pair hit this summer, there could perhaps be some weight to this theory; however, Kim has been adamant via that she doesn’t want to get a divorce so this theory seems unlikely.
2. Kim want to shield Kanye West’s mental health from viewers
Of the fan theories floating around Reddit, this theory definitely seems to have some legs to it as we can absolutely see Kim choosing to step away for the betterment of her husband and family. While Kanye might not appear on the show and the family has the ability to censor certain aspects of their lives out of episodes, we imagine ending the show will help Kim keep her personal life more private.
3. The Kardashians want to distance themselves from E!
One of the crazier theories fans have for Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ end is that the Kardashians are hoping to distance themselves from E! Network. The running theory is that there could perhaps be some behind the scenes drama or network scandal looming which the Kardashians want to avoid being connected to — thus leading them to cut ties with the network.

4. E! could be in trouble of going under
Another theory that could prove to be true is that the decision to end KUWTK foreshadowing a grim future for E!, with fans wondering if the network could soon go under. It has been a trying year for the network with many originals being canceled, including E! News which has been a mainstay on E! for nearly three decades. The decision to end KUWTK seems to put the network one step closer to purging its biggest hits, and could very well set the stage for the network to merge into another NBCUniversal brand.
5. The Kardashians don’t want to document their continued aging on film
Perhaps the craziest fan theory at the moment is that the Kardashians chose to walk away from the show for superficial reasons. While the Kardashians are all about their glam and living their best lives, we can’t imagine them walking away from a multimillion-dollar TV empire over something so superficial such as not wanting to age on film, especially considering they continue to post frequently on social media and are likely to do so long after KUWTk ends in 2021.
