Meghan Markle’s best friend Jessica Mulroney sets record straight on rumors they’ve drifted apart

If you’ve been paying attention to tabloid headlines, you might’ve heard that Meghan Markle and Jessica Mulroney have had a tumultuous friendship as of late. However, according to Jessica herself, they’re as solid as a rock. The longtime BFF of the Duchess of Sussex spoke out on all the feud rumors with a statement on Instagram.

Unfamiliar with Jessica? She met Meghan on the set of Suits, the USA series in which the former actress starred as Rachel Zane from 2011 to 2018. Jessica, who works as a stylist, was hired for the show and the two quickly hit it off.

According to Irish Central, Jessica was even rumored to be Meghan‘s maid of honor in her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018. Clearly, the two have remained close even with the now-Duchess’ major life change, but of course the media will always try to stir the pot with rumors.

“I’m going to tell this once and for all,” she said in her post which has since been deleted, according to People. “Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday. Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline. Stop feeding into it. Done.”

It seemed their reported drama stemmed from recent accusations that Jessica Mulroney had been displaying “textbook white privilege” on the internet. Influencer Sasha Exeter shared a 12-minute video on Instagram shading Jessica and saying just that.

“Listen, I am by no means calling Jess a racist but what I will say is this, she is very well aware of her wealth, her perceived power and privilege because of the color of her skin,” Sasha wrote.

“And that, my friends, gave her the momentary confidence to come for my livelihood in writing,” Sasha also claimed, adding that Jessica showed “textbook white privilege” when previously threatening her.

Jessica soon apologized in a message of her own. “I remain more committed than ever to support anti-racist efforts and will do everything in my power to right this wrong,” she wrote on Twitter.

Despite her apology, many tabloids reported that the drama drove a wedge between her and Meghan. Thankfully, Jessica finally set the record straight. For Meghan’s part, she has not publicly weighed in on the rumors, which is not surprising.
