Kim Kardashian is obviously no stranger to opening up on camera. On Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the 39-year-old reality star has practically made a 20-season career out of discussing her personal life. But recently, something unexpected happened.

It seems that Kim was caught off guard and quickly found herself in an onscreen reveal that was definitely new territory. In a preview for the new season of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, a teary eyed Kim Kardashian unexpectedly breaks down during her interview with David Letterman, reports Us Weekly.

The upcoming season of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman drops later this month. So as of now, it’s not crystal clear what triggered the strong emotional response from Kim, even if we have some idea.

In the new season trailer, we see Kim Kardashian talking to Letterman with tears beginning to stream down her face. Letterman says, “No, no, no, no, are you alright?” Kardashian replies, “I don’t know why I’m crying. I’ve talked about this before.” And the tears just keep on coming.

If we’ve learned anything in 2020, it’s that there’s a first time for everything, no matter how unlikely certain realities might’ve once seemed. And being realistic, Kim becoming emotional about what’s been going on in her personal and professional life might be unavoidable. Because when it rains, it pours. And there’s been some notably rainy days in Kim Kardashian’s life as of late.

From the divorce rumors to the KUWTK cancellation and the constant social media backlash she endures, saying it’s been one thing after another for Kim this year would be an understatement. The ongoing drama seems to continuously overlap.

All drama considered, fans are eager to know what caused the SKIMS founder to burst into tears while chatting with Letterman. Season 3 of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction will be streamable via Netflix on October 21. So we’ll find out soon enough.
