While many exes in Hollywood go on to become the best of friends (or at least co-exist peacefully), the same can’t be said for Amber Rose and Kanye West. Even 10 years after their separation, the two stars simply can’t see eye to eye.
Amber and ‘Ye called it quits back in 2010, but it seems their drama has followed them to present day. In a new interview, Amber called the rapper out for his harsh treatment towards her throughout the years.
“I didn’t soak up anything from him. Me and him are two very different people,” she said during an appearance on the No Jumper podcast (per Entertainment Tonight). “I’m a compassionate person, I have empathy. I’m a good person. That’s why people love me. That’s why anybody I’ve ever dated always loved me. You can’t really mention anybody who ever says anything bad about me except for him because I got away. I’m not like him at all. I didn’t get anything from him.”
Amber didn’t stop there, though. She also spoke out about his infamous comment where he claimed he needed “30 showers” after dating her. For Amber, the comment was classified as slut-shaming, and she wasn’t afraid to call him out for the remark.
“I don’t know if he says things to make his wife more comfortable, but to slut-shame me and say you needed 30 showers, it’s like, bro… you took me around the world, since when do you need 30 showers?,” Amber said. “I could see if it was a one-night thing and you want to slut-shame me, OK, but you’ve done a lot for me.”
This isn’t the first time Amber has spoken out against her ex, and, she’s called him a “bully” for his treatment of her. In 2017, she sat down for an interview with Complex‘s Everyday Struggle talk show, opening up about how her ex’s harsh words opened up a personal battle. However, she also insisted on taking the high road. “I still have never said anything mean about Kanye,” she said. This is after six, seven years of constant bullying from him.”
Amber has also made a point to focus on more positive endeavors in her life. In an effort to fight for female empowerment, she founded the Amber Rose Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to promote discussion about women’s rights.
One thing’s for sure: Amber Rose and Kanye West have a complicated history, and it’s one neither star can seem to put completely behind them.
