Has John Krasinski ever hosted Saturday Night Live?

John Krasinski has accomplished many things in his career, with a diverse portfolio of acting projects that have helped him to reach audiences of all types.

To most, Krasinski is best known for playing the lovable Jim Halpert on NBC’s Emmy-winning comedy The Office for nine seasons. While The Office remains one of his most recognizable roles, Krasinski has also succeeded in making the transition to dramatic acting as well with turns in titles such as 13 Hours, A Quiet Place, and Amazon’s Jack Ryan. 

As surprising as it might be to many, Krasinski did not make his SNL hosting debut until the tenth episode of Season 46 which aired Saturday, January 30, 2021. During the episode, Krasinski was joined by musical guest Machine Gun Kelly.

While Krasinski might have made his Saturday Night Live debut on January 30, 2021, he was originally slated to make his debut nearly a year earlier.

Originally, Krasinski was scheduled to host SNL Saturday, March 28, 2020 which would have been a week after the opening weekend of his film A Quiet Place Part II. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, NBC made the decision to postpone filming on the episode as part of production shutdowns that put a pause on many broadcast series.
