What Kanye West is asking for in his divorce from Kim Kardashian
By Diana Nosa
It looks like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are still 100% going through with their divorce. While this is still devastating news for the pair, the two are not making the process as terrible as it has to be.
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s divorce process has been one that is rather peaceful and amicable, with both sides being as professional as possible and doing what’s best for their four children. The peacefulness is now even more exemplified, as West’s reported demands in the divorce are showing the kind of gentleman he really is.
Kanye West asks for joint custody in divorce from Kim Kardashian
According to People, the first of West’s reported demands is that he wants joint legal and physical custody for his kids, North West, Saint West, Chicago West, and Psalm West.
This would most likely be best for the recently separated pair as West and Kardashian no longer live together, with Kardashian still at her Hollywood Hills home and West now living elsewhere.
The second of Kanye West’s demands include the removal of the spousal report, which means that neither party is responsible for financially supporting the other. Again, this makes the most sense with Kim Kardashian being a billionaire and Kanye West also being a billionaire.
Kanye West’s asks are essentially the same demands that Kim Kardashian wants as well, which is making the process as seamless and as drama-free as possible–but we’ve got to admit, the news of this divorce is still pretty sad.
Why are Kim Kardashian and Kanye West getting a divorce?
Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce back in February of this year, eventually citing “irreconcilable differences” as the main reason for the decision.
Before she filed, both West and Kardashian reportedly worked relentlessly to make the marriage work. It’s said that the pair tried going to marriage counseling to work on their various issues. However, by then, counseling just wasn’t enough for the couple, as the issues that dated back to mid-2020 reached a boiling point.
Despite how hard the pair tried, ultimately, they decided to part ways after seven years of marriage and while this decision didn’t come easy, we’re glad that the process is a friendly one.
A source told People that the esteemed musician always wanted an amicable divorce, stating that Kanye West “loves his kids” and “wants them to be happy.” Ultimately, “he doesn’t want to fight with Kim about anything,” and it is unmistakably clear that he’s keeping to his word.
There is no word on when the divorce will be finalized, but we predict that it could be as soon as this year or as late as next year. Either way, we’ll be sure to let you know all the latest on Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s divorce.
