Britney Spears‘ father is refusing to fork out cash to cover extra security as the singer’s carer, Jodi Montgomery, reports she’s received death threats. The 69-year-old father to Grammy winner Britney has stated he won’t pay for Jodi to be protected, as Jodi claims she’s been receiving death threats in the wake of Britney’s June 23 court appeal.
Britney Spears’ father says no to protection money
Per a court filing, Jodi has been “the subject of innumerable and ongoing threats” – for “years,” it would seem. Jamie, meanwhile, “disagrees and objects” to Jodi’s requests for more heavy-duty security detail, one that could cost up to $50,000 a month.
The news comes in the wake of “Toxic” singer Britney speaking for 24 minutes straight last month as she addressed a Los Angeles court judge and said she felt “traumatized” by her conservatorship, one that’s seen dad Jamie controlling his daughter’s finances since 2008. Jamie now wants a judge to deny Jodi’s requests for security funding, also saying he’s “very concerned” regarding the “dangerous rhetoric” regarding the conservatorship.
Britney had previously asked for Jodi to be her conservator – she took care of the singer’s health from 2019 onwards.
Jamie’s legal team states that Jodi lacks “sufficient details, specific facts or circumstances to justify such an expense.”
Jamie Lynn Spears receives death threats
Jodi would not be alone in claiming she’s been receiving death threats. Earlier this month, Britney’s 30-year-old sister Jamie Lynn Spears told her 2.1 million Instagram followers that she’s received the same, even suggesting they’ve extended to daughters Maddie, 12, and Ivey, 3. She wrote:
"“Hi, I respect that everyone has the right to express themselves. But can we please stop with the death threats, especially the death threats to children.”"
Jamie Lynn’s claims come in the wake of her publicly backing Britney, also defending herself amid suggestions her superstar sister was funneling her money. The Nickelodeon alum said she’d been paying her own “freaking” bills since she was 10 years old. Speaking of Britney, Jamie Lynn said:
“Since the day I was born, I’ve only loved, adored, and supported my sister. I mean this is my freaking big sister, before any of this bulls**t.”
Britney’s explosive court appeal saw her admit she can’t sleep. The singer said she’s been forced to take Lithium against her will – she even stated being forced to keep in an IUD to prevent pregnancy, despite her wishes to both marry and have a baby with boyfriend Sam Asghari.
