Caitlyn Jenner under fire for leaving campaign trail to film Big Brother VIP
By Diana Nosa
Earlier this year, Caitlyn Jenner announced her intention to run for California governor, but following this unexpected announcement, many, including the Kardashian-Jenner family, voiced their refusal to support Jenner’s race. Even still, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star proceeded with her position in the race, stating that she will be able to “save California” once elected.
Running for governor is no easy feat especially when one is against numerous other candidates who the public has taken more of a liking to, however, running for governor becomes even harder when one has plans of leaving her campaign trail to film for a reality show.
Caitlyn Jenner faces criticism for leaving campaign trail to film Big Brother VIP
The New York Post tells us that Jenner is temporarily pausing her campaign trail to honor a previous commitment made with the reality series Big Brother VIP. The series is set to be filmed in Syndey, Australia, and Jenner could be gone for more than two months should she progress to the end of the competition.
Though the time commitment seems long, the TV personality let us know on her Twitter that filming wouldn’t interfere with her race. See the tweet down below.
Though Jenner did her best to reassure her supporters, her fans were still taken aback by the news, and some even called out the public figure’s insensitivity and ignorance.
“Tens of thousands of Australians stranded overseas awaiting for the opportunity to be reunited with loved ones”, one commenter replied, “Sydney & Melbourne in lockdown as Delta strain sweeps across our land; people suffering–businesses in ruin. Caitlyn Jenner waltz into Sydney for Reality TV.”
In addition to criticisms about Jenner’s timing, some even made remarks about Jenner’s overall political campaign and her determination towards running for California governor, urging her to step down.
“Please leave California. That will help the most.”, one opposer expressed, while another agreed saying, “You leaving will do more to save the state than anything else. Stay away.”, statements that echo the same sentiments many held when the former Olympian first announced her intentions of running for governor.
As of right now, Caitlyn Jenner has yet to speak out on these comments about her decision to film Big Brother VIP, but once she does, we will be sure to let you know.
