Kanye West and Irina Shayk have reportedly split and here’s why

Following his split from Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian, Kanye West has apparently been trying to move on from his marriage, setting sights on individuals close to him with whom he wants to build a future. One of those people was his friend Irina Shayk. The two hit it off romantically a few months ago despite a few close friends, including Shayk’s ex-boyfriend Bradley Cooper, reportedly believing the relationship wouldn’t work out in the long run. Perhaps they were right.

Though Cooper allegedly called the relationship’s expiration date months ago, it seems that many, including Kim Kardashian, believed the new romance would be beneficial for West and supported him every step of the way. But now that Kanye West has broken things off with the Russian model, it seems these efforts may have been in vain.

Why did Kanye West and Irina Shayk break up?

A source tells Yahoo! News that Kanye and Irina were never really serious in the first place even though, initially, they both seemed to be in the relationship for the long haul. The source confirmed that Kanye West’s main focus at this time is himself, his family, and most importantly, his career.

"Kanye has been busy working and spending time with his kids. This is his focus. He doesn’t have time to date right now. He finds Irina amazing though. They remain friendly."

As we know, West has been working overtime to release his upcoming album Donda, and being that he is dedicating oodles of time in various locations to make this album perfect, it makes perfect sense why his love life fell to the wayside.

Insiders also cited long distance as a reason why this relationship fell apart. Kanye West would spend most of his time on the West Coast, building several businesses in Los Angeles, while Irina Shayk often resided in the East Coast, attending to modeling opportunities in New York City. While they would both do their best to meet one another in their respective locations, it seems that they couldn’t find their groove to make the relationship work.

Despite the recent fallout, it’s also been reported that the two remain good friends and still have plans to strengthen their friendship in the future. Maybe there is a chance at a rekindling in the future? We’ll have to wait and see.
