Kanye West‘s album Donda was arguably one of the most highly anticipated musical releases this year. Millions of fans across the world were looking forward to hearing the masterpiece that was rumored to come from this legendary rapper, wondering what lyrics would come from an album that its creator spent days, if not, weeks in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium to ensure that every song was just right.
Several listening parties and a wedding creation later, Donda was finally released for the world to listen to.
Upon the official release of nearly 30 songs, fans were ready to analyze every song, using a fine-comb to spot any lyric that may be of interest or concern–and they certainly found one. Of the 27 songs, “Hurricane” is the one currently getting the most buzz as there seems to be some sort of confession to infidelity from Kanye West. But is this really an admittance of wrong-doing, or is West’s lyricism something to avoid reading too much into?
Well, Page Six is reporting that this song is the rapper’s way of admitting he cheated on Kim.
Did Kanye West really cheat on Kim Kardashian?
The “Hurricane” lyrics of suspicion are as followed:
"Here I go actin’ too rich, here I go with a new chickAnd I know what the truth is, still playin’ after two kidsIt’s a lot to digest when your life always movin’"
At face value, the first stanza of the lyric doesn’t seem to raise any flags because Kanye West’s latest ex-girlfriend, Irina Shayk, came into the picture after his separation from Kim Kardashian. However, in taking a closer look at the second line of the group of lyrics, he admits that a new girlfriend or fling came after his two kids. This means perhaps cheating occurred sometime between 2015, after the birth of Saint West, and 2018, the year of his third child, Chicago West’s, birth. But what exactly happened during these years?
While a lot did transpire during these years, memorable events such as his 2015 VMA rant and his 2016-2017 hospitalization certainly stand out. It wouldn’t be too bad of a guess to believe that these tough times led to infidelity. After all, he mentions in the song, “It’s a lot to digest when your life is always movin’,” which leads us to believe that cheating could’ve been his coping mechanism at the time. But who could he have cheated with?
Though Shayk has been in West’s life for a long time, it is highly unlikely that she was the woman the iconic rapper is mentioning in this song since she previously was in a committed relationship with actor Bradley Cooper.
Right now, we may not know the answer to the specifics, but it’s possible that we may learn the entire truth after dissecting the tracklist of Donda a bit more. The answer may, in fact, be right in front of us.
