Khloe Kardashian opens up on the time Tristan Thompson proposed

Khloe Kardashian revealed a huge secret on this week’s episode of The Kardashians, leaving fans with no choice but to offer their greatest sympathies and send nothing but love to the new mother of two.

People Magazine reports that Kardashian opened up about the time her ex-partner Tristan Thompson proposed to her. The celebrity recalled the heartbreak she felt when she had to reject his proposal, but knew that she was making the best decision, as their relationship was on shaky ground that same year.

“I said, ‘I need to make sure this is a totally different relationship because I wanna be proud to say I’m engaged to anyone’,” Kardashian recalled telling Thompson at the time. “And that’s why I said, ‘I’m not comfortable accepting this right now because I’m not excited to tell my family.'”

She continued, “As hurtful as that probably was for him to hear, it was the truth. I’m not ever gonna accept something or give someone false hope, and I said that to him.”

Regarding Tristan Thompson’s point of view, based on Kim Kardashian‘s retelling of what transpired on the phone call between herself and Thompson, it’s believed that the NBA athlete was somewhat taken aback by the knowledge that Khloe never told her family about the proposal or the rejection of the proposal.

“I’ll never forget Tristan calling me and he was gonna propose to her on Valentine’s Day,” Kim Kardashian expressed. “And then I called him the day after and I was like, ‘Hey, I never heard anything from Khloé. Oh my god, did you propose?’ and he was like, ‘Oh yeah, I did in December.’ Oh my God, she didn’t tell us!”

How Khloe Kardashian feels about Tristan Thompson

Khloe Kardashian made it a point to let her fans of The Kardashians know that she has been doing the hard work required to “un-love” Tristan Thompson. However, it hasn’t always been easy for her to separate romance from friendship, as Thompson was in many ways a very important person to her.

“Going through what I went through was Tristan was incredibly hard. The hardest part about it all is training yourself to un-love someone,” Kardashian stated on the Hulu reality series. “This was my life for six years. And we weren’t just a couple, we genuinely were best friends.”

As of today, Kardashian still holds complex feelings for Thompson since the NBA player has betrayed her trust on multiple occasions. Even still, she knows that she cannot completely ice him out of her life because to her, he’s still family.

“He was my workout buddy, we did all these things together. And so learning how to undo all those things, that takes time,” Kardashian explained. “Just because someone does you dirty doesn’t mean you fall out of love with them instantly.”
