Khloe Kardashian has always been open about her body image and weight. In the early episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, she was referred to as “the chubby sister.” She even highlighted this seemingly important fact in her spinoff show, Revenge Body. Always being compared to her older sisters, Kourtney and Kim, wreaked havoc on her mental health.
Following her divorce from LA Lakers forward Lamar Odom in 2016, the Kocktails with Khloe alum once used working out as “something to do” and a means of punishment. She also became “obsessed” with the numbers on the scale.
“When I first started working out, I cared so much. Maybe it’s just being younger. I think you care about the scale. The scale Fs with you. I don’t even look at a scale anymore. I think it’s really unhealthy. I haven’t in years. They’re just numbers,” Khloe opened up with InStyle earlier this week.
It led to a toxic relationship with her body and trying to fit inside “society’s box” of beauty. Finally, the mom of two just had enough of the negativity and flipped the switch to a more positive outlook. Needless to say, the results paid off, and Khloe is in a much happier place mentally, physically, and emotionally.
“I go off of how confident I feel in myself. I’m all about doing what’s best for me, mind, body, soul. There is no one size fits all.”
The Good American founder also loves completely controlling her workout regimen. Having control is what gives balance in health and mindset. Without it, life can get chaotic, a mess that is difficult to fix and sort.
“I’m sort of a control freak, but in life, we can’t control everything. But the gym, what I put in it, I know I’m going to get out of it. And being a control freak — I’m proud of it — I love that I have that control.”
Of course, no gym workout is complete without a buddy. Khloe summons her mother, Kris or Kim, for a joint session. The sisters have a fun competition together and motivate each other. Kim is known to be a gym enthusiast and often shares her workouts on Instagram.
Khloe decided to utilize her fitness journey to good use. From 2017-2019, the 38-year-old hosted E!’s Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian. In the series, Khloe worked with trainers, nutritionists, and glam squads to help dispirited people reach their “revenge body” goals and get their lives back on track.
