How Robert Kardashian was honored at Kourtney Kardashian’s wedding
The late Robert Kardashian may not have walked his oldest daughter, Kourtney Kardashian, down the aisle at her Portofino wedding when she married Travis Barker last May, but he was with her in a different sense.
In a touching behind-the-scenes clip in The Kardashians special, Til Death Do Us Part, Kris Jenner knew just how important her ex-husband Robert was to Kourtney, so the momager kept his spirit alive by gifting Kourtney with her father’s wedding band. The sweet gesture led the Poosh founder into tears.
“She gave me her wedding ring from my dad,” Kourtney said during the confessional with Travis, who reminded her so much of her father. “When my dad died, I remember thinking like, ‘I never wanna get married because my dad isn’t there to walk me down the aisle,’ so that gift meant so much.”
Travis couldn’t have been more overjoyed with Kris’s gift.
“It was amazing,” he said.
We are crying nonstop.
The former lawyer passed away from advanced esophageal cancer in 2003, and Kourtney and her sisters cared for him in his last days. As the Kardashian siblings all had a tight bond with their father, the loss hit them hard. Moreover, nearly every woman dreams of having their father at their wedding, so having Robert’s ring close to Kourtney’s heart on her special day was one of the best ways to honor him.
Before his rose-filled proposal, Travis visited the gravesite of Kourtney’s dad and asked for his blessing to marry the “love of his life.” The scene unfolded in the first season of The Kardashians, and an over-the-moon in-love Kourtney accepted the Blink-182 drummer’s hand in marriage.
Kris revealed to Kim how her father’s presence was included prior to Travis’s proposal.
“He asked for her hand in marriage, and I was like, literally, I want to cry now,” she said tearfully in the episode. “It was so sweet and so tender. And then he said he went to your dad’s grave and asked your dad for permission, and I just lost it.”
In October 2021, the two got engaged at the Rosewood Miramar Hotel, a favorite spot of Kourtney’s. Travis drummed out a little magic to plan the momentous occasion, from the flowers to the beach and even the filming. He wanted to do it just right.
It has been nearly a year since the two exchanged vows in Portofino, and needless to say, they’re just crazy about each other, maybe even more.
