If Taylor Swift getting engaged wasn't on your 2025 Bingo Card, then consider marking the square. The pop singer and her Kansas City Chiefs tight-end boyfriend of two years, Travis Kelce, surprised the world with their intimate and garden-dream engagement. When you're THE Taylor Swift, nothing is too good for her, unless it's something created from the heart.
And Travis did that and beyond, making his proposal that much more special and whimsical.
In a dual-shared Instagram Carousel uploaded on August 26 by both Taylor and Travis, the couple is surrounded by a forest filled with pink and white peonies, as well as an arched trellis. It's the ultimate fairytale, one that only Taylor could have, and she should. It's not every day that one wins their "Prince Charming," and she certainly found hers in the Super Bowl champion.
To help create the perfect camera moment, Taylor wore a Ralph Lauren pinstriped sleeveless dress with heeled sandals while Travis donned a black polo, crisp white shorts, and loafers. They were bubbling over with love as they embraced and shared kisses.
Her engagement ring is a dazzling bauble for sure, and it really plays out with the garden motif. The gold tones enhances the pinks and greens, creating an eye-pleasing effect that connects with nature.
"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," the caption reads.
We love the fact that Taylor's referencing high school vibes here, and perhaps she feels that way, as a new love can take you back. Despite that, she and Travis have been together since 2023, and it's a new and adventurous emotion for Taylor. We love to see her happy and wish nothing but the best.
The story behind Taylor Swift's engagement ring
According to Page Six, it was Travis who designed the multi-caret ring with an oval and mine-cut diamond. He did have help from Kindred Lubeck from the high-end jeweler, Artifex Fine Jewelry. The stone is described as having a "Old Mine Brilliant Cut," and the trend was popular in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Lorel Diamonds ring expert Laura Taylor shared her thoughts on the sparkler, saying that the aesthetic perfectly captures her style in a luminescent light.
"This [Old-Mine] cut is known for its soft edges and beautiful sparkle, giving the ring a dreamy, romantic feel that suits Taylor’s signature style perfectly."
Travis's diamond choice is measured at nine carats with a value of one million, but nothing is too much for his bride-to-be, as he gives his entire world to her. After all, he received an impressive $34.5 million contract with the Chiefs in 2024, which will continue to secure his tight-end status for another two years. Therefore, purchasing a ring of that extravagance is not a significant financial burden.
The band is as charming and unique as the diamond itself, featuring engraving and intricate detailing. It follows an antiqued and timeless style that strongly reflects Taylor, because she'll only get better with time.
Here's to nothing but a lifetime of love and happiness for Travis and Taylor as they enter their wedding era!
