We still can't get over Kim Kardashian's look for the 2025 Met Gala on May 2. The reality star's Chrome Hearts leather two-piece dress with hanging double chains and an embossed print is one of our favorites. It captured the essence of the Met's theme and added a mysterious flair, thanks to the fedora's addition.
This year's theme was "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," paying dedicated homage to those who impacted fashion through Black culture and individuals. Many of the Met's guests drew inspiration from legendary personas, including Kim, who chose one of the most famous names in the entertainment world.
Here's who Kim Kardashian picked for her 2025 Met Gala fashion
When deciding who Kim wanted as her style icon, the Kardashian star looked no further than Grammy winner Lenny Kravitz. Yet Kravitz is well-known for his eclectic clothing statements as much as he is for his music. He's a trailblazer in his own right, setting examples for many, not just Kim.
The day after the Met on May 6, Kim uploaded a Carousel of herself attending the star-studded event. In the photos, she stands in multiple spots on the carpet. As the dress is tight-fitting, Kim struggled to navigate, but she pulled through it.
Kim described Kravitz in her Instagram post's caption as a "modern dandy, whose fluid, bold aesthetic, alongside icons like Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis, pioneered distinct and culturally significant aesthetics, shaping the way men dress for generations to come."
Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis were masters of music. Hendrix, for his tight and raw guitar playing and Davis, for his inception of jazz and trumpeting.
Kravitz didn't attend the 2025 Met Gala, but he did in 2022. His look was an all-black leather ensemble comprising dress pants, a blazer, and a sheer cape. Kim most likely used this defining moment as a source material for her Chrome Hearts design.
The extravagant diamond necklaces and earrings that Kim accessorized her liquid black outfit with were provided by the UK-based jewelry house Moussaieff Jewellers. According to Newsweek, the collection could reach a value of $12.5 million. It's not known whether the luxury gems were loaned or purchased by Kim, but nonetheless, they were the icing, only adding to the night's momentum.
Before Kim debuted at the Met, she shared some behind-the-scenes snaps of fittings, portraits, and her arrival on May 7. Her daughter, North West traveled to New York with her and showcased her black-and-white outfit and matching sneakers. The 11-year-old had her hair done in long neon-blue braids.
Per the age restriction at the event, North wasn't allowed to attend, as one must be eighteen. She did get to hang out with Kim prior to it, and that's the best part, as she got to be a highlight of Kim's most fashionable night.
