Kim Kardashian has been hard at work achieving her dream of becoming a lawyer in California, and one of the obstacles is passing the California Bar Exam. She wants to follow in her father's footsteps— the late Robert Kardashian — and he would be proud of just how far his daughter has come on her journey. Kim completed her law office apprenticeship in May, closing another chapter in her personal law book.
Becoming a lawyer is no easy mission, and for Kim, it was even more challenging. On top of her studies, she had to balance motherhood, her businesses, The Kardashians' filming, and expanding her acting credits with All's Fair —now streaming on Hulu. While she has plenty on her plate and then some, Kim's proof that anything is possible, even if it'll take a little bit longer to reach the goals.
Kim Kardashian shares disappointing news about her Bar Exam, but is driven
On Saturday, November 8, Kim uploaded an update on her Instagram Stories, sharing the results of her Bar Exam. Unfortunately, she didn't pass the rigorous test, but she's not giving up. For reference, testers have two chances a year to do the exam, first in February and then six months later in July. Kim attempted her first retake in July, so she'll have her next opportunity in February 2026.
Per the California Bar website, 16,000 people take the exam annually, with 63% passing. One must get an 85 to practice law in the State of California. The test consists of an essay, multiple-choice, and a performance section.
In her Story, Kim writes the following:
"Well . . I'm not a lawyer yet; I'm just a very well-dressed one on TV," she says, referring to her character, Allura Grant, on All's Fair. "Six years into this law journey, and I'm still all in until I pass the Bar. No shortcuts, no giving up; just more studying and even more determination."
Earlier this week, Kim admitted that she used the AI software ChatGPT to help her study. But it backfired, giving the wrong answers to the questions she asked. Maybe it's best to stick with the textbooks for the correct answers.
The reality star then thanked people who supported her and will continue to support her, as she takes another step on retaking the exam.
"Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far. Failing short isn't failure - it's fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that even motivates me even more."
