Kim Kardashian has gained a new showrunner for her upcoming Netflix drama, Calabasas! She shares the project wth her former AHS: Delicate co-star, Emma Roberts, and both women will have executive producer roles. The show was involved in a high-bidding war in April 2024, and Netflix was deemed the winner.
Calabasas is based on the young adult novel, If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous By Now, by Via Bleidner, and its narrative is about a high-schooler named Via, who's plucked from the Midwest to the affluent and star-obsessed world of Calabasas High School. From there, Via must adapt to its fast-paced lifestyles, but still embody her authentic foundation. It's not an easy transition, as it's tough for any teenager to start over in a new school, let alone a school where the wealthy compete and thrive in their social tiers.
As the drama heads to production for the streamer, which is also home to Stranger Things, Calabasas will have something in common with another hit Netflix show, known for its steamy romance and historical timeline. Kim is also a major fan of this series, and having Calabasas connected to it must be a dream come true for her.

Calabasas has recruited the showrunner of Bridgerton
According to the exclusive report on Deadline, Bridgerton's Chris Van Dusen has been appointed as the new showrunner for Calabasas, following I. Marlene King dropped out after working on the project for a year.
Currently, Van Dusen is constructing the adaption, as well as the overall themes for it.
Van Dusen was the showrunner of the historical romance for its first season in 2021, which broke Netflix records as the most-watched series. Kim loved the show so much that Nicola Coughlan, who portrayed Penelope Featherington, called the reality star "Lady Kardashian of Calabasas." In return, Coughlan was also a SKIMS fashion ambassador in 2024.
As of this writing, Calabasas hasn't set a premiere date, but if you want to see Kim in both her executive production role and her acting, you can check her out in the upcoming Hulu drama, All's Fair. The show revolves around a group of diverse women attorneys, with Kim, who will be portraying Allura Grant, at the forefront. Aside from their upscale cases and embattlement with the men attorneys, the ladies also have personal issues to comb through.
All's Fair will drop its first three episodes on Tuesday, November 4, then jump to Thursdays afterward. It'll join Kim's other show, The Kardashians, and, by making this move, All's Fair will become a ratings powerhouse.
