Kim Kardashian knows how to pick and choose the celebrity candidates when it comes to her SKIMS campaigns. The right person must have the complete feel and look for the fashion company as they're going to be the headliner for the products. Not only are the celebrities are the face of the advertising, they also become part of the SKIMS legacy.
Grammy-winner Post Malone has built up his own legacy in the music industry and has even collaborated with Taylor Swift on her 2024 The Tortured Poets Department album, with his work on "Fortnight." Adding to that milestone, is becoming the new face of SKIMS and being injected into its legacy. The New York native wouldn't think he'd be a part of it, despite owning a robe, which he said to GQ Magazine was 'the most comfortable thing' he wore in his life.'
For his photoshoot, Malone is in the great outdoors of Utah and for the first time ever for any fashion campaign he's done, he's wearing only his SKIMS briefs and the other collection pieces. Yet, how the singer feels about modeling in the woods and becoming shirtless.
"It’s terrifying for me. I’ve never done anything like that. It’s like a Sasquatch sighting, essentially, is what it feels like," he revealed to GQ. "Everyone’s going to call it in to the cops and say, “We saw Bigfoot out here.” Or, Averagefoot."
Post Malone is all about the camouflage in the SKIMS MEN campaign
The new Men's collection dropped on August 21 on SKIMS.com and in the flagship stores. It contains the latest fabric innovation- heavy weight fleece for that comfortable wear. Pieces include hoodies, shorts, joggers, tees, and underwear in the Real Tree Camouflage print and prices range from $26 USD to $176 USD.
On Instagram, August 19, and two days before the launch, Kim and Malone uploaded the photoshoot that the latter participated in. In the Carousel, he's wearing all of the collection while "working" on a Utah ranch. You wouldn't be able to tell that this was Malone's first time posing for SKIMS, as he naturally blends in with the landscape.
Or it might be the camo working overtime, which is something Malone loves.
"I’m all about comfort and feeling good in what I wear," he said in a press release obtained by Kardashian Dish. "These pieces are fun, the camo especially stands out to me. I’ve always been into camo.”
In the first slide, a clip is revealed with the "Rockstar" rapper riding horseback, fishing and getting out of a pickup truck. He's surrounded by nature and everything it has to offer. To add more to it, the footage has an early 1980s aesthetic and tone.
Kim, for her part, elaborated on getting Malone for the campaign, the introduction of the new fleece, and expanding the menswear line.
"Post Malone truly embodies the spirit of the SKIMS Man with his effortless energy and style, which really shine through in this campaign. This launch is a big moment for us, not only because we’re expanding our menswear line, but also because we’re introducing our new heavyweight fleece, which takes comfort and quality to the next level. Having Post lead[ing] the campaign just felt like the perfect fit.”
The POST MALONE x SKIMS is now available for purchase, but only for a limited time!
