Kim Kardashian wears the Princess Diana Cross at the 2024 LACMA Art++Film Gala
One wouldn't naturally consider connecting Kim Kardashian and the late Princess Diana. However, there is a connection between one of America's "royal" families and the British monarchy, a sparkling connection presented at the 2024 LACMA Art+Film Gala on November 2nd.
At the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) Gala, funds are appropriated to preserve the museum's film division, and many of Hollywood's biggest names are patrons. Think Leonardo DiCaprio, Andrew Garfield, and Blake Lively.
Kim Kardashian brings out Princess Diana's Cross for the LACMA Art+Film Gala
Kim is known for her often riqué looks when she attends Red Carpet events and then cools it down when she's not. For the LACMA, the reality star continues her white theme (she wore the hue last month at the Annual Academy Museum Gala) by wearing a daring dress crafted by Gucci. The gown has a plunging neckline and side slit, and while it's not something I'd wear, it's totally Kim's Carpet style.
She wore her hair in a sleek bob with forehead curls and, for glam, a nude lip and smoky eye. To further the look, white sandals and a cape were included to give it that old Hollywood feeling and aesthetic.
The visions are not on the dress or hair but on the amethyst and diamond cross the socialite chosen as an accessory. The significant jewel-encrusted pendant was one of the late Princess Diana's pieces in her jewelry collection. She wore it nearly forty years ago for the Birthright London Charity Gala.
Kim acquired the cross, made by Attallah, in an auction last year, paying nearly $200,000. The exquisite item, weighing more than 5 carats in stones, hasn't been seen since—until the star wore it at the LACMA Gala. The auction was Sotheby's, and the cross was made in 1920, at the height of the Art Deco movement.
Vogue Magazine uploaded an instagram Reel of the SKIMS at the event and wearing the purple cross.
Kim is a proud Christian, and the cross is meaningful to her. So, it makes sense why she chose to wear it.
