I wake up early on Saturday, January 4, and wait for a friend to pick me up - we're heading to New York City for the day.
Although there are plenty of fun activities to do in NYC, my main—and, quite frankly, my only—goal was to visit the new Skims flagship store on the iconic 5th Avenue.
On December 12, Kim Kardashian, the co-founder of the shapewear brand, made a special appearance during the grand opening of the three-story store. In photos posted on social media, hundreds of fans stood around and watched celebrities including Ice Spice, Cardi B, and more, head into the store.
Once finding Skims, there was a line with about 20-30 people in it. Fortunately, it only took me about 10 minutes to get inside. While waiting, I admired the white building that featured two white flags with the brand's logo.
As I walked inside, a large white sculpture of a woman's body welcomed me. Behind it were tons of bras, bodysuits, t-shirts, and underwear of all different kinds. In the second room on the first floor were loungewear including the new Skims winter collection, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and pajama pants in a variety of colors.
The vibe inside the store gave off Kim's signature vibe - all neutral. The walls were an off-white shade and soft house music played through the speakers. The employees were also decked out in Skims attire and kept a close eye on keeping the store squeaky clean.
I contined upwards as I was eager to look through everything quickly, all to go back later on to pick out what I wanted. On the second floor were more bras in different styles and colors with two tables in the middle featuring other products.
The third and final floor had more loungewear and the men's section. After about a half hour walking through the entire store and turning it inside out to make sure I found everything I wanted, I walked out with four items.
I decided to purchase a black jacket from the 2024 winter collection, two relaxed T-shirts in black and gray, as well as some fun scrunchies.
I will definitely be going back to Skims when more merchandise is released. I would recommend any Kardashian/Jenner fan in the NYC area stop by!
