PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals) has called out to Kim Kardashian for her Christmas 2025 gift to her four children. We all know that she and her family have the financial means to purchase whatever their hearts desire and more, even if there's going to be some backlash. And that's precisely what the nonprofit did recently.

If you need a recap, Kim gave each of her kids a Pomeranian puppy for the holiday. The small pack arrived in various shades, including black, cream, sable, and tan, which are the breed's standards. They'll also join with the other Poms in Kim's home, including Sushi, who you might have seen on social media.

It's highly likely that these new additions came from a responsible breeder and not from a shelter. As one who both adopted and brought dogs from breeders, the responsibility, love, and commitment is all the same, but there's a sense of savior-ship when you do a rescue. But as long as the animals are well taken care of and have all of their needs and wants met, as they're the most imperative.

Here's what PETA said to Kim Kardashian

In a press release obtained by People, the nonprofit organization was sharp in its words, as stated by its founder, Ingrid Newkirk.

"Puppies are not plushies, and it’s a damn shame that Kim missed the chance to be a spokesperson for shelter pups and instead is being rightly slammed on social media for that."

Fans across social media platforms, including Reddit and Instagram, where Kim first posted the adorable photo of the puppies, expressed their opinions on the matter. They're a blend of both negative and positive, and as mentioned, if the dogs are well-loved and taken care of, then that's the vital factor.

Newkirk additionally voiced her criticism toward Khloé, who also gifted her kids a black Labrador puppy from an Indiana breeder. The former said that the family could even advocate for animals by volunteering at shelters or adopting, as it will help stop the growing pet population.

"Call PETA or a local shelter the next time if [the Kardashians] want to add another dog to their family. They can try to make some amends now by sending their kids to volunteer at a local shelter or paying for a local shelter adopt-a-thon or at least one spay day to help stop the growing homeless puppy crisis."

In a season four episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Kim fell in love and bonded with a chihuahua she named "Princess." She found the tiny pup wandering near her DASH store, and despite the star saying that she wasn't fond of dogs at the time, she provided Princess with luxury and necessities. However, as Princess required 24/7 care due to severe health problems, the veterinary nurse decided to take over her care.

At the episode's end, Kim utilized her time by volunteering at the local animal shelter.
