It's new flagship stores!

Attention Chicago residents! SKIMS will be coming to the Windy City, and it's going to be sooner than you think! For those who have been eagerly waiting and twiddling their thumbs for the news, well, it's an exciting moment! The shapewear company established by Kim Kardashian in 2019 is on the high rise and continues to gain momentum with each passing day.

Rumors about SKIMS potentially dropping a flagship store have been circulating lately, with NBC Chicago confirming them in August. Per their report, there will be not one, but two flagship locations. The first store will be situated in the upscale neighborhood on Oak Street in Lincoln Park, adjacent to other luxury boutiques, including those adjacent to Armani and Chanel.

The second store will be located in Oak Brook Center, a premier shopping mall located in the Southwest Chicago suburbs, and ys, you can bet it's upscale too. This one will be closest to my vicinity, and once it opens, I'll be checking out its atmosphere and seeing the clothes that made Kim even more pronounced in her wealth. I'm not going to knock her and am happy for her success.

At the time of publication, there hadn't been a set window for the openings. Yet, I can officially confirm that at least one of the stores will be opening its doors sometime this fall.

The Oak Brook SKIMS Store will be coming in Fall 2025

During an unrelated errand on September 29, I had to stop at Oak Brook Center for an Apple trade-in. After I had that taken care of, I decided to do some shopping, as one does when at a mall, especially an outdoor one on a nice day. During my trek to Barnes and Noble, I came face-to-face with the SKIMS storefront. And honestly, I was surprised!

The imagery features typical models wearing monochrome bodysuits in various skin tones, framed by flowers that have no apparent connection to the theme. However, the arrangements in the flatbeds made the store stand out with its advertisement. I know that the SKIMS placement is determined by the amount of space a location has and by mall executives, but it wouldn't be surprising if Kim had a hand in it, as she likes her things to subtly stand out.

Naturally, I snapped a photo of the storefront, as proof, and under the SKIMS text, it'll open in Fall 2025. As we're now in October, it might not be opened this month, but it's possible that it could be in November, as past stores have opened in this month and just in time for the holiday shopping season. Then, under the date, a QR code is provided for shoppers to scan for a job application. I heard that the hourly rate for the Oak Street store is $42, which isn't bad for retail.

The big mystery is whether Kim will be coming here to see the openings and greet fans. She was at Woodfield, another high-end Chicago shopping center in 2011 and 2012 respectively, for the launch of the Kardashian Kollection at Sears and promotion for her book, Kardashian Konfidential. The crowds were enormous then, and I expect them to be even more larger now, as Kim has become even more famous in fourteen years.

That is, if the reality star will grace her feet again on Chicago grounds.
