The Grammy Awards have been associated with music achievements from up-and-coming stars and legends since its initiation in 1959. Aside from the Gramophone statues, the Grammys have also been linked with fashion, as the stars dressed to the nines for the event.

There has been plenty of fashionable moments and styles over the years, in sync with the decade's fads and what was popular. If there was a defining point of Grammys fashion, it'd have to be the Y2K Era. Everything was exploding then, in terms of technology, pop culture, and the clothes. As a young woman during this revolutionary period, I was entranced by it all, especially the very early Y2K period.

Since the 67th Grammy Awards are live on CBS on February 2nd, we thought it'd be cool to take a walk down Memory Road to revisit the 2000s fashions.

These were the Y2K Grammy Awards fashions that defined the era

Jennifer "JLo" Lopez in green Versace dress

Year 2000

Jlo entrapped the media and public's attention with her risqué green and turquoise chiffon and silk gown from Versace, printed with a nature aesthetic. The garment was all the buzz, and many women and girls at the time were trying to emulate the hue for their evening looks.

25 years later, the piece remains a fashion treasure.

The Princess of Pop took on a more innocent look than JLo. She wore a classic white halter dress with a faux fur boa and accessorized with a diamond necklace. Britney traded the white for a pink, yellow, and purple tutu ballgown during her performance that night.

Britney was nominated for Best New Artist that year.

Butterflies were all the rage in the early 2000s. You had your butterfly clips, butterfly accessories, and your butterfly clothing. For the 2000 Grammy Awards, Christina wore a bias-cut holographic dress adorned with pink and blue butterflies. She kept the accessories on the simple side with a single silver bracelet and pink strappy heels.

That night, she won the Grammy for Best New Artist.

Year: 2001

Destiny's Child's is one of the most iconic girl groups in history. Their albums all reached platinum acclaim and swept in numerous accolodes and awards. The same can be said about their fashion as the women often dressed alike at award events. The 2001 Grammys were no exception, a Bey, Michelle, and Kelly dazzled in gold-toned gowns.

To add a touch more sparkle, the group took home the Grammy for Best RB Song for "Say My Name" and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

Amy Lee in Goth Glam

Year: 2004

Evanescence's Amy Lee stepped out of the fashion box and went with her signature goth style. I consider her one of my fashion icons, given that I wear mostly black with pops of colors and in a similiar style. For the 2004 Gramys, Amy dressed in a black, long-sleeved fairy-like gown highlighted with pink. She paired the pice with a long-strand thorny necklace and studded strap heels.

She and her group were nominated for the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal Grammy for "My Immortal."

Her hips don't lie, indeed. For her performance at the 2007 Grammys, Shakira went with a two-piece outfit with a shiny gold tube top that bared her abs and a matching Flamengo pleated skirt. Her highlighted hair was styled in flowing curls. The overall look reflected her Columbian-Spanish and Lebanese ancestry.

Shakira was nominated for Best Collaboration With Vocals with Beyoncé for "Hips Don't Lie" that night. She's up for Best Latin Pop Album for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran this year.

She was nominated for Best New Artist, but lost to the late Amy Winehouse.

Paris Hilton in bright rainbow

Year: 2009

Paris wasn't nominated for any Grammy, but that didn't stop her from attending. The hotel heiress fashioned a purple and green mini-dress that wasn't the traditional Red Carpet note, but it worked well for her. Paris finished her futuristic look with glittering charcoal pumps, silver jewely, snd a frosty pink lip.

Kim Kardashian in silvery white

Year: 2009

Like her BFF Paris, Kim wasn't up for a Grammy, but she was a correspondent for E!'s live coverage on the Red Carpet. 2009 was a great year for her too, as Keeping Up With The Kardashians was a ratings smash for the network, and things were speeding up for Kim and her family.

Kim wore a body-hugging dress with silvery rosettes and strappy silver sandals for her corresponding role. Pink diamonds were set in dangling teardrop earrings.

What will the 2025 Grammys bring to the fashion game? We'll just have to wait and see on February 2nd.
