The trial for the 2016 Paris robbery, which left Kim Kardashian emotionally shaken and traumatized, began on Monday, April 28, in France. Jury selection is underway, and Kim's reported to share her testimony on May 13. It will be the first time in nearly nine years that the reality star will be facing her tormentors.

Seventeen people called the "Grandpa Gang" have been identified with the crime, and according to NBC, several have been caught a few months after the robbery. However, as time wore on, one in the ring has since passed on, and two are unfit to stand trial. Those who are still living are charged with robbery and kidnapping, and per the French court laws, due to this case's age, the defendants will face the jury and three judges, and a month-long trial will still take place, regardless of whether a guilty or non-guilty admission is voiced.

Kim and her former husband, Kanye West, were in Paris in October 2016 for Fashion Week. They were staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, a high-end luxury hotel, often frequented by many Hollywood stars and the world elite. One night, two of the seventeen people broke into the Kardashian-West suite, tied her up, and demanded money. She feared for her life, even mentally preparing herself for assault.

However, Kim wants the trial to be respectable and so far, the French has been treating their high-powered client with utmost dignity.

Who are the members of the Grandpa Gang in Kim Kardashian's robbery?

The "enterprise" consists of Aomar Ait Khedache and his son, Harminy, Didier Dubreucq, Gary Madar, and Christiane Glotin, who are among the members. Another, Yunice Abbas, has expressed remorse for his involvement in the robbery and has written a memoir in 2021 titled, I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, which details the event.

Kim was left unharmed from the robbery, but the assailants stole $9 million in jewelry, including Kim's custom-made engagement ring which was valued at $4 million

As for the name, the French media dubbed the group with the Grandpa Gang due to their ages.

What Kim has said about the Paris robbery

Kim has been openly vocal about her experience and has spoken on occasion on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and The Kardashians. Kourtney was in Paris at the time of the robbery, but was not at the hotel when it happened.

No photography or filming will be allowed during the trial, so it will not be aired on the Hulu show. However, Kim will likely address the matters in a future episode, and hopefully, this life chapter will be closed.
