Kim Kardashian enlists the help of Shawn Holley to help free Cyntoia Brown and Alice Johnson
Cyntoia Brown has seen a lot of celebrity support recently but Kim Kardashian is getting lawyers on board to help get her out.
Many who don’t follow Kim Kardashian may not know how socially and politically active she can be. The KUWTK star often lends a hand and her money to causes that touch her. In the case of Cyntoia Brown, Kim is going even farther and asking a lawyer from the OJ Simpson “Dream Team” to get involved.
Kim’s move to bring in legal heat is nothing new but her support of Cyntoia Brown is, sort of. Cyntoia was sentenced to life in prison in 2004 for killing the 43-year old man who purchased her prostitution services when she was just 16-years old.
Cyntoia claimed she feared for his life when she shot the Tennessee man whom she said bragged about his military sharpshooter experience and owned a lot of guns. She was afraid that if she didn’t, he might hurt or kill her.
Despite that and despite a tragic life of abuse, rape, and sex trafficking, the jury found her guilty and sentenced her to life.

The story of Alice Johnson is different but her outcome was very similar. Kim Kardashian has been advocating for Johnson’s release for several weeks. She is also currently serving a life sentence for her first non-violent drug offense.
Johnson is now 62-years old and has already served 20 years. She worked for decades for FedEx and admits that she made a huge mistake. As a single mother, Johnson found herself financially struggling and began relaying messages as a go-between for drug dealers in the Memphis area and was arrested as part of a large sting.
“Kim asked me several weeks ago how she could help Alice Johnson in her fight for justice. We then began corresponding with Alice and her team of lawyers,” Shawn Holley told the New York Daily News. “Since then, Kim has championed the cause of Cyntoia Brown and asked me to help her get involved in that effort as well. ”
