Kim Kardashian and Kanye West divorce timeline

On January 5, reports broke that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s relationship was quickly nearing its end with claims that the power couple would be getting a divorce.

Although nothing has been made official as of yet and the report is nothing more than a rumor, there is no denying things have been rocky between Kim and Kanye for several months now. While the couple once were described as couple goals, their pair’s relationship began to take a turn for the worst in the public eye in mid-2020.

With divorce looming, here’s a look back at the recent timeline of Kim and Kanye’s relationship and the path it’s put them on bringing an end to their marriage.

July 4, 2020: Kanye announces presidential run

While it’s hard to pinpoint when things might have started to take a turn behind closed doors, there’s no denying that Kim and Kanye’s struggles reached a turning point when he announced his plans to enter the 2020 presidential race.

July 8, 2020: Kanye gives controversial Forbes interview

Days after announcing his presidential bid, Kanye gave voters a glimpse into what a Kanye presidency would look like in laying out his platform in an interview with Forbes. Among the talking points was his anti-vaccine stance which directly conflicted with Kim’s public support of vaccines.

July 9, 2020: Kim Kardashian and family admit to worrying about Kanye’s wellbeing

Following his controversial Forbes interview, sources connected to the Kardashian family told Entertainment Tonight that the family was fully in support of Kanye’s presidential run. However, said source made it clear the family was worried about Kanye’s wellbeing and not in agreement with his Forbes interview.

"“Kanye’s family will always support him in his endeavors but they also worry for him. Kanye has a tendency to overwork himself physically, emotionally, and mentally and not take time to rest and reset,” the source revealed at the time. “The family is supportive of Kanye’s plan to run for president but they don’t agree with his recent interview.”"

July 19, 2020: Kanye claims he and Kim Kardashian considered aborting their daughter North at first political rally

At his first campaign rally hosted in Charleston, South Carolina, Kanye went on an emotional anti-abortion rant. During his speech, Kanye revealed intimate details about his and Kim’s personal lives when he told those in attendance he and Kim had considered aborting their daughter North.

The rally was said to have left Kim feeling hurt and angered by Kanye’s decision to share the private details of their lives in such a forum without any discussion.

July 21, 2020: Kanye goes on tweetstorm attacking Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner

Days after his political rally left Kim reeling, Kanye made matters worse when he went on a Twitter tirade. During the tweetstorm, Kanye managed to take shots at E! Network, threw major shade at Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble, and claimed Kim was trying to lock him away.

July 22, 2020: Kim Kardashian asks for compassion and empathy for Kanye

Days after Kanye’s Twitter outburst, Kim took to Instagram where she asked her followers to show Kanye compassion and empathy for Kanye.

"“We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however, we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this.”"

July 25, 2020: Kanye issues formal apology to Kim Kardashian

Days removed from his Twitter tirade, Kanye issued a formal apology to Kim in a statement on social media writing:

"“I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter. I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me.”"

July 27, 2020: Kim Kardashian breaks down in tears as she confronts Kanye

One week to the day in which Kanye went on his Twitter tirade, he and Kim reunited for the first time. Soon after the couple’s reunion, photographs surfaced of an emotional Kim confronting Kanye in their vehicle in a heated, tear-filled exchange.

July 31, 2020: Reports break Kanye has not seen his kids in a week

After his tear-filled reunion with Kim, reports surfaced that suggested Kanye had not seen his kids in weeks. As People reported at the time, Kim and her family were shielding the kids from what had been happening which included keeping them away from Kanye.

August 10, 2020: Kim Kardashian and Kanye take a make or break vacation

After navigating the fallout of Kanye’s rally speech and Twitter tirade, the West family embarked on a “will they or won’t they?” vacation amid the media’s frenzy, apparently to see what would become of their relationship.

Sept. 18, 2020: Kanye goes on second Twitter rant

Following a quiet few weeks, Kanye shifted his attention off of Kim and the Kardashians and onto the music industry in a heated exchange in which he expressed frustrations with the industry.

Sept. 22, 2020: Kanye’s Twitter rant leaves him on thin ice with Kim Kardashian

While Kanye’s Sept. 18 Twitter rant did not call out the family as his previous one did, Kim was none too pleased with Kanye going on yet another rant. As we reported at the time, Kim was said to be “at the end of her rope — again,” having promised Kim he would stay off Twitter and control his impulses.

Sept. 29, 2020: Kim Kardashian and Kanye attend wedding amid divorce rumors

With the rumor mill running rampant with speculation of divorce, Kim and Kanye were seen attending a friend’s wedding together. Kim had so much fun she posted a handful of photos and videos describing the wedding as a “date night.

Oct. 15, 2020: Kim Kardashian and Kanye said to be in a great place

Weeks after enjoying a date night out at their friend’s wedding, reports surfaced out of Entertainment Tonight that Kim and Kanye were in a “great place” as they continued to work on their relationship and mending broken fences.

Oct. 27, 2020: Kanye helps Kim Kardashian celebrate her 40th birthday in style

While still working on their relationship, Kanye helped pull out all the stops to help Kim enjoy her 40th birthday in lavish style. Together, the couple enjoyed an island getaway with close friends and family where they enjoyed dancing, bike rides, swimming with the whales and taking in the beautiful beach weather. It was here, Kanye also gifted Kim with an unforgettable surprise in the form of a hologram of Kim’s late father.
