Meghan Markle shocked Oprah with how many dirty secrets she revealed

On March 7, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sat down with their close confidant and one of the world’s most celebrated media personalities Oprah Winfrey for an emotional interview which led to several shocking bombshells.

During the 2-hour Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special, Meghan and Harry were finally provided with a platform to tell their side of the story. While many always anticipated the interview would create waves, no one predicted just how candid Meghan and Harry would be during their conversation which included many shocking revelations.

Of course, the biggest talking points to come from the interview were Meghan’s heartbreaking confessions about her mental health, lack of support from those within the firm, and comments made behind closed doors about the color of their son’s skin — as well as the decision not to provide him with royal protection or even a formal title.

Meghan and Harry left no stone unturned as they spilled the tea on their treatment in the months leading up to their departure as working members of the royal family. In fact, even Oprah herself was shocked by the bold responses she received from the couple during their explosive CBS interview.

Leading up to the interview, there were reports that no subject would be off the table; however, not even Oprah herself was prepared for just how open Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would be during their conversation.

As Oprah revealed in a new interview with Nancy O’Dell on the TalkShopLive streaming show, Oprah confessed to being surprised by the couple’s decision to go “all the way there” in telling their truths to the world.

"“What? You’re going there? You’re going all the way there,” Winfrey said during her appearance. “The reason why it was such a powerful interview … What makes it powerful is when you have somebody else who is willing to be as open as vulnerable, as truthful as they were. The reason the interview was what it was because they answered the way they did.”"

Not only did Oprah admit surprise in just how open Meghan and Harry would be during the interview, but she also seems stunned by the impact the interview has had.

As she told O’Dell, “I had no idea that it would have the reverberating impact that it has had and continues to have.” She also made it her mission to ensure nothing Meghan or Harry shared was misconstrued or leaked ahead of the interview’s airing.

"“It was really important to me that what we put out there in the world was put out into the world at the time that everybody could see it and that things didn’t leak and things weren’t misconstrued before the actual interview happened,” Oprah revealed, also adding that “Our shared intention was the truth. They wanted to be able to tell their story and tell it in such a way that allowed them to be as truthful as possible.”"

Clearly, Oprah’s hope of creating an environment for the couple to speak their truth and tell their story worked out even better than she could have anticipated.
