Kim Kardashian had a stark realisation after her 40th birthday about Kanye West: ‘I just want total happiness’

So Keeping Up With the Kardashians ended last night (June 10), and although we are devastated that this chapter, for Kim Kardashian, 40, and the rest of the Kardashian- Jenner clan, has ended; last nights episode finally gave viewers some closure as to the reasons behind why Kim’s marriage to singer and fashion designer Kanye West, 43 – who recently flew to Paris with girlfriend Irina Shayk – ended, after six years of marriage and four-kids -North, seven, Saint, five, Chi, three and Psalm, two – together.

During the episode, the SKIMS founder revealed to her mom, Kris Jenner, 65, that she had the stark realisation after her 40th birthday that she just wanted ‘total happiness’ and wasn’t completely fulfilled in her relationship with Kanye West.

For her 40th birthday, Kim Kardashian, her family and closest friends went away to a mysterious island where they let their hair down and enjoyed some well-needed fun in the sun, amid the coronavirus pandemic. But, Kanye West was noticeably absent for the majority of the KKW Beauty founder’s birthday celebrations, only appearing in a couple of pics from the bash which didn’t make them look too loved up. Kim Kardashian confessed to her mom she’s unhappy being married to Kanye West

The lawyer-to-be filed for divorce from her estranged husband Kanye West back in March 2021, and revealed in scenes filmed for KUWTK back in December that she feels like she has no one to  “share” her life and her huge success with:

"“I just want total happiness. I just feel I’ve worked so hard in life to achieve everything that I wanted to and I lived up to my expectations and achieved 10 times more than I ever thought was humanly possible but I don’t have a life to share that with.”"

While discussing her marriage with her mom, the KKW beauty appeared to be completely emotionless on the subject, claiming that she’s not “rushing” into making any “final decisions”, but was just done feeling “emotional” and just feels “numb” about her relationship. The 40-year-old beauty confessed to Kris Jenner:

"“I’ve never ever thought I was lonely … I thought I could just have my kids, and my husband moves from state to state, and I’m on this ride with him and I was okay with that. But after turning 40 this year I realised, ‘No, I don’t want a husband that lives in a completely different state’. I thought that was when we were getting along best. But then that is sad to me. And that’s not what I want.”"

Kim Kardashian, who only married Kanye West in 2014, said her Yeezy founder husband gave her all the “extravagant” things in life, but she was now yearning for the “smaller experiences” and simple things in life.
