Kim Kardashian has fond memory of dad Robert Kardashian “I learned grace from him”
Kim Kardashian reflects on her father, the late Robert Kardashian, in her Vogue Italia interview. The businesswoman and aspiring lawyer spoke with the publication for their July 2023 edition and shared how growing up with one of the most recognized attorneys in the world shaped her as an individual.
For those wondering, Robert Kardashian was part of the famed NFL player (the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers) OJ Simpson’s legal ‘Dream Team.’ Kardashian and three other prominent lawyers, F. Lee Bailey, Johnnie Cochran, and Robert Shapiro, defended Simpson at his infamous murder trial in 1995. Although Simpson was acquitted, Kardashian always had doubts about his innocence. Therefore, he was haunted for the remainder of his life.
The family patriarch passed away from aggressive esophageal cancer in 2003, leaving behind four (adult) children, but he hoped one day, they’ll find their unique successes.
Kim believes that her path to becoming a lawyer is rooted from her dad.
When asked if Kim had any memories of her father working, the SKIMS founder supplied with a thoughtful and humorous answer.
“I watched him when he worked cases. I learned grace from him and also to be very calm and collected,” the mother of four confessed. “Even when he got mad at us, he was always part of a process, a conversation. He said, “Hey, come here; we need to talk about it.” When my mom got mad, she was kind of funny because she mixed up our names. She would yell at me and say, “Kourtney, Kylie, really, whoever you[r’e] call[ed], come here!”
Kim has passionately advocated for justice reform, voicing for nonviolent offenders to have clemency or pardon. In 2020, Alice Marie Johnson was successfully pardoned for her crimes as a drug offender, two years after she was released from prison, serving twenty-one years of her life sentence. The Kardashians star was a reason why Johnson received her freedom and how supporting Johnson’s case, even ‘begging’ former President Trump for her release.
As Johnson was Kim’s “first” case, it will remain with her in a positive light.
“The case of Alice Johnson will always be close to my heart. It has been five years since she was released from prison. It was the first experience that prompted me to seek this change, and it was the catalyst for all the progress that has come since,” she told the magazine.
Since then, Johnson authored a memoir of her case and criminal life, with Kim writing the foreword.
As the SKKN by Kim founder is the cover model for Vogue Italia’s July issue, she shared the black-and-white photo shoot and the cover on Instagram, channeling mid-20th century glam.
