I tried all 3 flavors of Khloé Kardashian's Protein Popcorn (and I was surprised)

The classic snack treat is Khloé's latest venture.

Popcorn is essentially the go-to snack when it comes to snacking. It's healthy, has that satisfying crunch, and can come in various flavors, from sweet to savory, pleasing everyone's tastes. Khloé Kardashian recently dropped her health food brand, Khloud Foods; the first drop is protein-packed popcorn.

As a health nut (though not quite like Kourtney) and a mother, Khloé ensures that she has plenty of natural foods in her home, with a little bit of the more "naughtier" stuff. She came up with the idea of Khloud Foods so that her children and others could enjoy snacking without the guilt or bad ingredients.

I'll be transparent because I'm not the biggest popcorn fan, as I prefer pretzels, but with all the buzz circling around Khloé's protein popcorn on social media and the colorful display at Target, I gave in and tried it. I'll also say that as someone who is extremely cautious about what is eaten and everything must be checked three times over before it's even considered.

That said, I allowed myself to sample all three flavors of the popcorn- Olive Oil and Sea Salt, the Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn, and White Cheddar for this review. After eating a bowl of each, I tallied my results, and I was surprised.

Khloé Kardashian's popcorn will replace my movie popcorn

You know, in the theaters, you practically inhale a giant tub of over-buttered, oversalted popcorn while watching the movie? Half the fun of going to the theaters is for the snacks, and you pray that after consumption, your heart doesn't go into an arrhythmia.

That's like me, and the popcorn the theaters serve will set you back due to its health barriers. But there's an option, and that's Khloé's Protein Popcorn. Each kernel from all flavors has a light whey powder or Khloud Dust, as described on the packaging. One serving of the snack has nine grams of protein, 160 calories, and ten grams of healthy fats from the olive oil and whey. On a recent Target Run, I brought all three, and with my discounts and coupons, the total ran to about $11.

Let's start with the Olive Oil and Sea Salt. This one is perhaps my favorite, as it has a neutral Mediterranean aroma, dashed with salt. The combination was simple, but filling. I literally had to stop myself from eating the entire bag.

For a sweeter urge, the Sweet and Salty Kettle Corn did the trick. Not only did I get the dessert element, but the salt calmed down the sweetness. I avoid sugar like the plague, but as a guilty pleasure with a health kick, I'll eat this instead of a cookie or cupcake.

The White Cheddar was my second favorite. It had that cheesiness without going overboard. The texture of the popcorn (and the others) was tender, allowing it to melt in your mouth. With the cheddar, I did notice it was more powdery, but aside from that, I enjoyed it.

The overall verdict

When it comes to any celebrity-endorsed product or services, there's naturally going to be skepticism. Yet, all of the Kardashian-Jenner brands are owned by the family, with Kris being their overhead for the most part. They all know how to market and operate their merchandise, and Khloud Foods is no different.

So, I'll be smuggling a bag of Khloé's popcorn for my next theater trip and allowing it to be a snack option for parties. However, there could be some improvements to make it better. For one thing, it could be organic corn, and none of the flavors are vegan. Nutritional Yeast and pea protein could be blended for a cheesy popcorn for those who can't have dairy or need to limit their intake.

But for $4.99, it's not a bad purchase and it's healthy for what it is. That said, here's hoping that Khloud Foods will launch more lines, such as pretzels, or even a cereal-based mix, since Khloé loves cereal.

Only time will tell!
