The truth behind the $20 million in Kanye West and Jay Z feud
Jay Z dropped his newest album 4:44 and the biggest shot he took was at his former friend Kanye West.
Jay Z called out Kanye West in his new song “Kill Jay Z” over $20 million that he allegedly gave the rapper. It turns out, the money Jay Z is talking about in his new song wasn’t an unpaid loan like many outlets previously theorized. Instead, TMZ reports that it was the advance paid out to front Kanye’s now-canceled Saint Pablo tour.
As the lyrics go, “You gave him 20 million without blinkin’ / He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f**k was he thinkin’?”
When Kanye was getting ready to go on tour, Live Nation fronted the money to Kanye’s crew to pay for staff, production and other costs that would be incurred while on tour. Apparently, Jay Z is offended that, after fronting all that money, Kanye still stood on stage and ranted about their friendship on stage in front of his fans.
It’s also worth noting that Kanye West didn’t pull out of his exclusive deal with Tidal because Jay Z dropped a diss track aimed at him. The Tidal separation has been a long time coming. Kanye argues that Tidal owes him $3 million to cover the costs of some music videos he shot exclusively for the streaming service. On top of that, Kanye claims that part of his deal to drop his Life of Pablo album on Tidal included a bonus check for getting new subscribers to sign up and stream it. Apparently, that check never came.

All of this feuding is pretty sad considering how close Jay Z and Kanye West used to be. They even made the Watch The Thone album together and the tour they did to promote it was amazing.

Obviously, the drama between Jay Z and Kanye goes back quite some time and no one knows exactly what may have driven a wedge between them. It is clear, though, that things only got worse after Kanye and Kim Kardashian got together.
Kim and Kanye wanted badly to be couple friends with Jay Z and Beyonce. Despite all of the attempts to be besties with hip hop’s royal couple, Beyonce just wasn’t having it, according to the rumor mill.
Kanye was understandably hurt when Jay Z and Beyonce skipped his wedding and didn’t even tell him they weren’t coming. He ranted and railed on Jay and Bey on stage last year because they didn’t come by to check on Kim after the Paris robbery. It’s clear that they don’t want to be friends like that and it’s also clear that that really hurt Kanye.
Now it looks like Kanye and Jay Z may never reconcile with the latest news being that both sides are threatening to sue each other over the Tidal deal now that Kanye has walked away.
Fans would probably know way more about the current Kanye West feud with Jay Z except that Kanye deleted his social media a while back and so far, he hasn’t come back to defend himself or to further blast accusations at his former friend.
