The Kardashians celebrate Amari Thompson’s birthday with sweet tributes

The Kardashians rang in another birthday with Tristan Thompson’s younger brother, Amari Thompson. The 17-year-old now lives with Khloé Kardashian and her children following the unexpected death of his and Tristan’s mother, Andrea.

Her death was featured in the season 3 finale of The Kardashians, which flipped the family’s world upside down after spending a lighthearted Christmas just a few weeks prior. Andrea passed away from a heart attack at the age of 53 in early January this year.

Following their loss, Tristan and Amari moved down from Toronto, Ontario, to Los Angeles to be close with Khloé, her kids, and her family. However, due to inclement weather in California, Tristan’s home suffered a roof collapse during renovations; the NBA star and his brother moved in with Khloé for the time being.

Khloé considers Tristan and his brother family, despite his 2021 paternity scandal and adultery.

“I just think this is what family does when (expletive) hits the fan,” the Good American expresses in the finale. “All you have is your family, and Tristan and I are family, and we’re [going to] be family for the rest of our lives.

Khloé swooped in to help Amari, who is disabled and uses a wheelchair. However, that didn’t keep the family from honoring him on his special day.

The Hulu star dropped a carousel of photos of a cheerful Amari and her kids, 5-year-old True Thompson and 6-year-old Dream Kardashian, who’s holding True’s hand.

“Someone is 17 today!!!! Happy birthday sweet, sweet Amari!” Khloé writes for the caption. “We are all so blessed to have been touched by an angel such as you. You are truly one of God’s special treasures.”

Khloé threw a pool party for Amari to celebrate, which large, silver mylar balloons hung over her turquoise pool, spelling out “Happy birthday Amari.”

Kris Jenner shared her own respective post with Amari, calling him an “angel boy.”

“Happy birthday to our angel boy! Amari, you will never understand how much you have changed our lives!!” the Safely founder penned. “You teach me something new every single time I’m with you, and I thank God every day that He put you in all of our lives to show us the depth of love you are capable of giving and the depth of which we can love . . .and to show us what really matters. Thank you for all you give us. You are such a sweet special soul, and I love you so very much!!!! Lovey xo.” Kris closed the passage with an emoji line of heart smilies, a red heart, prayer hands, and a birthday cake. She additionally tagged Tristan and Khloé.

Lastly, Kim shared a throwback clip of Amari on his 12th birthday. The family and Andrea all sing Happy Birthday to him as he stands in front of his cake.

What disability does Amari Thompson have?

Amari’s disability is epilepsy, a condition where a person has constant seizures and can impact the individual’s cognitive functioning. As Amari’s is severe, he’ll need constant care for the rest of his life.  Tristan was appointed as his guardian after their mom’s passing and remained at his side since.

In 2013, the Lakers player launched the Amari Thompson Fund, a nonprofit helping other epilepsy families who may not have the means to get medical care and assistance. Tristan calls his little brother his “motivation” for not just playing in the game but being a good person overall.
