Bennifer is no more. Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, her husband of two years. The Grammy winner used no attorneys when stipulating and represented herself. Per TMZ, who first broke the news, Lopez had no prenuptial agreements or monetary settlement. Whatever money the former couple earned together will become "community property."
Coincidence or not, the divorce date was August 20th, the exact date when Lopez and Affleck married in Georgia for their traditional wedding in 2022. Before then, the two eloped a month prior in Vegas. The separation date was April 26th, 2024.
It shouldn't be surprising that Lopez and Affleck were headed to divorce as they've been living separate lives all summer. For example, sources claimed that Affleck didn't attend Lopez's big 55th Bridgerton birthday bash in The Hamptons, nor did she attend his 52nd birthday party in LA. To top things off, their $68 million, 38,000 SQ. FT Beverly Hills home is now up for sale.
Ahead of this summer, Lopez canceled her North American "This Is Me Live" Tour, reasoning that it was due to concentrate on family issues. Still, one could suspect that the separation was part of the decision despite not being officially confirmed.
